From the time I had these at the #social restaurant I just can’t stop thinking about them so I decided to make my own from home and when I looked up recipe, turned out to be easier than I thought! Just as delicious too.
1 Kg chicken breasts sliced into 1-inch thick strips
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1 teaspoon portuguese chicken spice
1 teaspoon chicken spice
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg beaten with 2 tablespoons water
vegetable oil for frying
Fill a 9-inch standard skillet with about 2 inches of oil. Start heating it over medium-high heat while you bread the chicken.
I used a tray to mix the flour, salt, ginger, Portuguese chicken, chicken spice and pepper but you can totally use a large bowl instead.
In another bowl, beat the egg and water
Dredge the chicken in the flour, coating well. Shake off excess flour and dip in the egg, then back in the flour.
Set the chicken to the side to rest for about 5 minutes. (This is important as it helps the coating stick better)
Check your oil by dropping in a little bit of flour, if it sizzles immediately, you can add one piece of chicken.
If the chicken sizzles, add about 5 pieces at a time and cook until golden brown on that side- about 5 minutes or so.
Turn, and repeat until all brown.
Cook the rest of the chicken in batches; this is also important because of you put too much chicken at once, the oil temperature will drop causing the chicken to take longer to cook and possibly soggy rather than crispy.
Transfer to a plate or colander lined with paper towels.
