So I had been looking for a bun/bread roll recipe that didn’t require me to wait 2 hours to bake!

I wanted something quick, simple and delicious and so I discovered this recipe in my search and I guarantee that it is spectacular.


1 cup warm tap water

1/3 cup vegetable oil 

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg beaten

3-4 cups all purpose flour 

1/8 cup milk, room temperature 


Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celsius 

In a large bowl, combine water, vegetable, sugar, salt and yeast.

Let the mixture sit until yeast is bubbly (8-10 minutes)

Stir in beaten egg.

Mixing by hand, add flour one cup at a time until you have a soft, but not sticky, dough.

Knead for 10 minutes.

Divide dough into 18 pieces into shapes of your choice.

Cover with a kitchen towel and place in a warm area of your kitchen for 10-30 minutes to rise.

Lightly brush with milk and bake for 15-25 or until golden brown on top.
