Breakfast is always a treat with fritters! Let’s make some!
5 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoons dry yeast
2 teaspoons baking powder
7 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-2 1/2 cups warm water (not hot!)
Sift flour into a large bowl
Add remaining dry ingredients to the flour and combine
Gradually add warm water until you form a soft sticky dough, ensure that it is not runny! I only used 2 cupcakes myself
Cover bowl with cling film and place in a warm part of your kitchen for 30 minutes or until dough doubles in size.
Prepare a large pool of vegetable oil for frying on medium high heat
When oil is hot, scoop out balls shaped chunks of dough into the oil and fry until golden brown
This recipe produced 20 medium fritters for me
Check if the fritter is ready by taking it out of the oil and poking it with a skewer and if the skewer comes out clean, the fritters are ready
